The Story of Night Court

Ep. 240 is live!

Welcome to the final week of September, autumn has arrived…and I have to say I’m pretty damn pleased about it. This week, the boys and I dive into a classic 80’s sitcom that holds a special place in our hearts, and comes to us by way of patron Mike Affonso as his patron pick. Originally, we had planned to do a “Back to School” special of sorts focusing on “very special episodes” and PSAs. Thank God for Mike and his pick, as this proved to be VERY interesting. As you tune in this week, you will be surprised how this episode acts as an accidental companion to last week’s episode, Knight Rider, in that both series were instrumental in bringing NBC out of third place. Additionally, if you ever enjoyed the golden era of Must See TV comedy on NBC…you owe a debt of thanks to Night Court. Also, it should be noted that Mike comes to our community by way of our previous endeavors with our Ernest related podcasts. Both shows, specifically The Ernest P. Worrell Preservation Society, carried a great deal of lore to them…specifically, my love and adoration for Markie Post. I loved Markie Post, I am unflinching in my attraction to her, and I have had a soft spot for her since her days on The Fall Guy. Additionally, she was the first wife of a former classmate’s father! That said…let’s just take a minute to drink in a dearly departed 80’s stunner.

Once again, I’d like to give a heartfelt thanks to Mike for his pick, support, and continuing to laugh with us post EPWPS. That wraps things up for this week, and month, but join us next week as we kick off SPOOKY MONTH! That’s right, next month is October, that means its Halloween Month or, rather, HOWL-O-WEEN month! October is poised to be a howlingly good time, centered around my favorite monster…WEREWOLVES! We kick things off with the start of the 80’s werewolf renaissance courtesy of Joe Dante’s 1981 classic The Howling. Join us next week, won’t you? In the meantime, thanks, and enjoy!
