The Story of SNICK
Ep. 219 is live!
Well, we did it gang…April was one hell of a treat! We discussed four properties that are integral to the pop culture tapestry, and we capped it off with a great fifth week event, “An Evening With Larry Kenney.” I’m sure I sound like a broken record by now, but I don’t care…what an absolute delight! One month ends, another begins, and lord that sees us starting off May with another round of picks from our patrons, as well as some that show my appreciation. Ergo, this is PICKS ‘N ‘PRECIATION MONTH, or PnP for brevity’s sake. We kick things off with a selection from Dustin’s list, and that’s the story of SNICK, primarily its early days and original roster of programs. Though we do touch upon Dan Schneider and the “Quiet on Set” docuseries, our focus sticks to the early beginnings of SNICK, and its iconic lineups. That said, let’s get into this program block that was made just for us! Though I only enjoyed SNICK regularly for its first year, it does hold a special place in my heart. I would continue to watch it, or catch programs here and there. But that first year served as a segue into enjoying SNL during junior high. I think part of what made that first year so special, and lent itself so well to ushering in my SNL years, was All That. There really was something about seeing kids like me doing what I wanted to do when I grew up: make people laugh. I’d say my greatest memories are more associated with nights Jason and I would stay at one another’s house on Saturdays. I will eternally maintain that staying at Jason’s was infinitely more fun. Still, watching these shows with my best friend, making memories together…and now podcasting together about it? It’s pretty rad. So why don’t you sit back, get comfy on a wicked nice orange couch if you have the means, because we have a spot reserved just for you. Don’t change the channel, because it’s SNICK…on Yesterdaze!
